Last week I received the news that my submission for the Sheikha Manal Young Artist Award (YAA) was chosen as one of the 50 shortlisted artworks, which is going to be exhibited tomorrow, Saturday, the 14th of January, 2012 in Dubai Ladies Club. & today, my artwork, which was my senior project, aka my self portrait, aka Baboona, was one of the artworks featured in the local newspaper, Emarat Alyoum. The artwork description is a bit off, but it doesn’t really bother me. It is nice to finally see my work being acknowledged. Al Hmadullilah.

This whole thing has been pretty much too overwhelming, in a positive way that is. I am so happy and grateful for such great opportunity. To have my work exhibited in such prestigious local award is definitely the best way to start off this year with. With my internship in Art Dubai, which is going wonderfully-i love it there, the atmosphere, the people, the work-and balancing my time to make art on the side, I have managed to get a podium and paint it (faced some problems), managed to take my artwork to Dubai Ladies Club (my car engine decided to shut off), and I have just finished working on a new set of business cards that I got printed just yesterday.

May this be a start of a great productive year :)
